Fanwork Details:
I'm able to assist in two different ways:
1. Plot development. I am great at idea generation and outline
building, especially when it comes to AUs. I am happy to let you
bounce ideas off of me, providing feedback on those ideas or
suggesting different places you could take the story or fill in gaps.
2. Traditional post-writing grammar and structure revisions. IE, you
hand me a finished draft and I look it over to find typos, revise
awkward phrasing, fill in logic gaps, and other sorts of polishing. I
want to help you make your fic the best version of itself, so I will
try and lean in to your personal style rather than imposing my own
style on your work. I provide some positive feedback as well as
suggested revisions.
(And to be clear, these are two different bids, not two services offered in the same bid. Double your bid to get both!)
Relevant experience/background:
I have taken a few creative writing classes where
critique/feedback were taught. I also have 10+ years of experience
beta'ing fanfiction and original fiction novels/longfic, short
stories, and poetry. I have also done proofreading and been the
writing mod for multiple zines in the fandom space.
Characters/pairings of interest:
N/A - I'll beta most any pairing as long as it doesn't fall
under my "Not willing to address", although I'm not a huge fan of hero/villain pairings (eg: Batman/Joker, Noctis/Ardyn). Villain/villain is fine.
Subjects/theme/tropes of interest:
I prefer fluff, romance, hurt/comfort, fantasy, sci fi, and
AUs.
Unwilling to address:
Although I am willing to beta explicit works, there are some kinds which I can't work with.
Torture especially is a big NO, as well as gore. Most hardcore
kinks are also a NO, including BDSM, although bondage in and of itself
might be okay (i.e. if your otherwise vanilla sex scene has a
blindfold in it, it won't be a problem). Of course, no paedophilia,
incest, or noncon. I don't really like unrelenting angst, violence,
humiliation, or whump, so wouldn't be able to bring my full passion to
a work which doesn't have at least a little bit of light at the end of
the tunnel. I also can't beta any pairing with an abusive dynamic.
Being a little problematic is fine, but not outright toxicity. No pet death.
