Fanwork Details:
For sensitivity readings, I can speak to schizo-spectrum
disorders and psychotic breaks, as well as pro-sex (which is to say,
not sex repulsed) asexuality.
For specialist expertise, I worked at a bank for 10 years, so if you're writing a heist or bank robbery, I've got you covered. I also know a ridiculous amount about the Vietnam War, Marilyn Monroe, Vincent van Gogh, and the assassination of JFK.
For beta-ing, I can offer broad marginal notes, cheerleading, or a formal crit letter. I'm also happy to provide a developmental edit on a synopsis or work, which is a service I offer professionally (see below).
Relevant experience/background:
I've been a freelance developmental editor and writing coach
for five years. I've had hundreds of clients, and I have coached
several writers into creative writing MFA programs and traditionally
published book deals. I founded the Fanauthor Workshop and OFIC
Magazine. I've been traditionally published as a writer and have won
several awards. I also have a literary agent and will soon be putting
my second manuscript out on submission. As for education, I have an
MFA in creative writing and pedagogy, and half of a PhD in English
(creative writing: fiction). I've taught creative writing at the
university level for nine years.
Additional notes about labor offered:
If interested in a developmental edit or synopsis review, we
can do a regular coaching session over Zoom or we can chat via
Discord. A developmental edit provides conceptual and structural
feedback. In terms of my own pedagogy, I mostly focus on positive and
neutral feedback and I ask a lot of questions.
I'm willing to read any content for any fandom, although if I'm reading for a fandom whose canon I haven't engaged with, I will not be able to provide feedback on canon compliance or characterization.
